Update on clogs

Since I did a post on the clog trend and someone mentioned in the comment section that they need a little more cushion, I had to pass this info along.  Yesterday, I tried on these shoes -

They make you feel like you are walking on air.  If you want something similar to a clog with a lot more comfort, these are for you.  They are a little pricey right now at $94, so I'm waiting for them to drop.  However, if you like the bronze color, Piperlime is selling them for $80  -

Inspired by Spring!

Today, I was inspired by this gorgeous Spring that Atlanta is having right now - particularly the beautiful flowers and sunshine.

I re-interpreted the flowers into a Spring outfit -

I bought the dress at the Banana Republic outlet last year when I went to Las Vegas.  It is very bright and makes me happy every time I wear it.  The purse is one of the first things I made in my sewing class when I re-learned how to sew a couple of years ago.

Mustard yellow

The other day, I ran across this woman in Target -

She was wearing one of the "it" colors for Spring (mustard yellow) in a combination that I think is hot right now (gray and yellow).  The jacket even brings in a little of the military trend with the pockets and gold buttons -

She said she bought this jacket a few years ago and was not aware that it was particularly "in style" right now.  I think fashion trends are moving so quickly that you can just buy what you like and in a few years it will be "in". 

I certainly don't think we should be slaves to "trends" that other people decide for us.  However, we can be inspired by them to try new looks and colors.  I was encouraged by this "mustard" trend to purchase the shoes seen in my previous post here.

Ocean blue

I don't know this woman's nationality, but her foreign accent and ombre dress made me dream of the Greek isles.  I love the matching eye shadow.

She was wearing clog sandals, which I first saw on European blogs about a year ago and did not like.  Now, I see them everywhere in Atlanta.

I think they are growing on me.  What do you think about them?

Street Style - Perimeter Mall, Atlanta

On Saturday while the rest of my family was picking out tomato plants, I took a quick trip to the Mall.  (I would much rather take pictures than garden.) 

First, I ran into this girl at Starbucks.  The edgy shoes really modernized the lacy dress -

Then, I walked outside and found this lady who has a natural model inside of her -

I love it when people wear beautiful colors like this green.  I liked how she combined the green dress with the gold purse and the neutral Aldo boots.



In the parking lot outside of Nordstrom, I spotted Theresa wearing this beautiful Michael Kors top -

As I was leaving the Mall, I saw this girl from Indonesia who was wearing an outfit with so many great details -

I particularly liked her belt, which she bought in Indonesia -

Fortunately, I didn't buy anything on this trip to the Mall.  I would much rather come home with pictures of beautiful ladies in great outfits.

Trying to rest

On Sundays, I often post the word "rest".  Although it is an old-fashioned concept, I think resting on the "Sabbath" could revolutionize my life.  I can usually rest for a couple of hours but not for the whole day.  My brain is constantly coming up with new projects for me to tackle, old projects I need to finish, housework I have neglected.

Marva Dawn says in her book Keeping the Sabbath Wholly that Sabbath ceasing is "to cease not only from work itself, but also from the need to accomplish and be productive, from the worry and tension that accompany our modern criterion of efficiency, from our efforts to be in control of our lives as if we were God..."

I have realized that I derive a lot of self-worth from what I accomplish, and I often push hard to get it done.  I decide what needs to be done, and I do it (and woe to whoever gets in my way).  In other words, I act like God.  That leads to no good thing for anybody in my life.  So, today I am trying to rest. 

Friends

Someone once told me that people tend to dress like their friends.  These friends that I found in Las Vegas seem to prove that point -

These girls from Chicago are wearing completely different outfits, but they are similar with their fun but sophisticated vibe.  I love all of the pattern and the color.

The second group of friends have a much more understated look  -



I really like their jackets and their shoes.
