Pink on the feet
You don't often see women past adolescence wearing pink footwear, so here are a few women venturing into new territory. I think the first is successful, but what do you think about the other two?

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes
And this is an homage to all of the fabulous shoes at New York Fashion Week -
Which one is your favorite? (Don't answer that, Dad.)

New York Fashion Week - flashy street style
As I said in my previous post, I love the "show" aspect of fashion week. In real life, sometimes less is more. But during Fashion Week, more is more.
This girl is all sparkles -
This girl is all sparkles -
For those of you who thought the guy who mixed plaid and checks was too much, check out this lady. She is not afraid of print -
This girl is wearing a gold "suit" -
...and is carrying a see-through purse -
And here's some more gold -
In an exaggerated way, they are telling us that gold is big for Fall. And so is neon -
This girl likes feathers (and I actually like her head piece) -
Here's another head piece -
And we'll end with some extreme shoes -
So, was that a good show? Don't worry. I have more...

Can you hear that?
It's the sound of me eating my words. I made a joke the other day at the end of my shoe search post about not wanting to buy some Clarks. Well, look where I ended up on Saturday -
When I started this search for a cute and comfortable shoe, I wanted to end up like this girl with the Sperry Top-Siders and gym socks -
It's hip. It's trendy. It's unique.
I searched and searched for something like this that fits my life but finally ended up with these -

They are classic. They are practical. They are Clarks. Not as trendy as I wanted, but I did succeed in finding comfort outside of a sneaker. You feel like you are wearing running shoes, and then you look down and see that you are wearing boots! That kind of comfort cost me a pretty penny, but I think it will be worth it. No more shopping for me until next year.

A shoe success
I am still looking for comfortable (but cute) shoes to wear on my upcoming trip to NYC. One easy option would be menswear flats -
They are so cute and so practical, but I haven't been able to make myself buy any. After looking through our family's old photographs, I have figured out why. It's because I've "been there, done that" -
That is me in New Orleans in the early 90's in menswear flats. After you wear something for years and then graduate to what you think is a better look, it's hard to go back. Maybe if I lost the socks, it would be OK...
Anyway, today I ran into Banana Republic with 5 minutes to spare and saw these shoes that I've had my eye on since last winter -
Originally $89 - I got them for $18! I call that a success. They are very comfortable, too. I have some flat Aldo boots (on sale) coming in the mail soon. So, I think I'm getting close to the end of my shoe saga.

The search continues
Guess where I am going on September 8...
New York City!
During FASHION WEEK!
I didn't even plan for it to be during Fashion Week. It just happened to be the ONLY weekend that worked out for me to go visit my friend Elizabeth. No, I don't have tickets to any of the actual fashion shows. But I will definitely be stalking around the city looking for fashionistas.
So, here is my issue. I still don't have any cute shoes that are comfortable (and by comfortable I mean "walk for miles" comfortable). For comfort, most Atlantans seem to prefer flip flops -
But I can't walk for miles in flip flops. And ballet flats bother my heels and toes. Converse shoes have been extremely popular internationally -
They are starting to trickle into Atlanta -
I may join this band wagon one day, but I am just not feeling very sporty lately. I was inspired by this girl to try some flat strappy sandals -
So far they pass the test for my "mom" life, but they haven't yet walked for miles in my "street style blogger" life.
I visited Aerosoles, because sometimes they have some comfortable shoes that are pretty cute. Once again, I ended up going more for the cute than the comfortable -
I haven't worn them out of the house yet, but they have way too many cutouts and angles to not create blisters somewhere. I decided that something I can wear with socks is the best way to go. So, I ordered these wedge boots from asos (free shipping both ways) -

I also tried on these boots at Aldo (and they are soooo comfortable), but I heard that they have gray suede in NYC. Can anyone confirm that for me?
I can hear some of you saying, "Just buy some Clarks and be done with it." I know, I can be stubborn.

Quirky cool style
On Saturday, I saw this girl at Fernbank -
I love her plaid shoes. They are so fun. She said they are Converse, and she bought them in Hong Kong.
Her layered top reminds me of the stars in the Fernbank star exhibit -
The white watch is another unexpected pop of fun. I am kind of obsessed with quirky cool style like this right now.
