Pink paint
Today, I am thankful that I am finished painting my daughter's room! I was a little scared about the color, but I really like it. It gives everything a rosy glow. I went with a grayed out version of what I wanted, and it looks much brighter than it did on the chip. Just the right amount of brightness. (With pink and yellow paint, always choose a shade less intense than you think you want.)
I am also thankful for blue tape -
I am a messy painter, so I taped off everything. And I still got paint on the ceiling. But not too much. I am also thankful for plastic tarps, because I splattered paint everywhere -
So, now I just need to clean up and change out the toddler bed for her new twin bed. Then, I need to make curtains, pillows, a new painting...I think I need an Oreo milkshake right now.

Sunlight
I don't know that I thought about sunlight that much before I started using a camera. Now, I notice the way light hits everything. It's amazing the way it changes throughout the day. God could have made sunlight look like fluorescent lighting. How terrible would that be? Instead, He made it beautiful and life-giving. He could also have made it come out only occasionally, but the sun rises every morning. Today, I am thankful for sunlight, and I hope that it reminds me that God is there - every morning.

Retraining my brain
Yesterday, someone told me that their friend started going to church, because she looked at how blessed she was and thought - "Someone needs to be thanked and praised for this."
I was struck by her friend's statement, because it is the opposite of how I think. I am much more likely to focus on the negative and say, "Someone needs to be blamed for this." I like to consider myself a realist, because I think of all the possible ramifications of something before I do it. But my husband thinks I'm a negativist, because I respond to every idea with why it won't work.
So for the next week, I am going to think about things for which I am thankful. (I think it would be funnier if I shared all of the things that get on my nerves, but I'll try to make to make the positive interesting.)
Today, I am thankful for COLOR.
A house painter gave this fan deck to me years ago, and it has provided hours of entertainment. I like color so much that sometimes I wish I could crawl inside of it or absorb it somehow. Maybe that's why I like fashion...and painting walls. Color is an amazing concept. God could have made everything the same shade of beige, but instead He cared enough to make the world beautiful...and we can take inspiration from that.

Lightening up for spring
This outfit looks so light and cool for spring -
I love wearing skirts below the knee, but that length is hard to pull off without heels. Maybe you could substitute a more comfortable wedge.

A lot of pink
My daughter has been begging me to paint her room pink. I have put her off for a year, because pink is such a difficult color. It can easily be so bright that it feels jarring or so light that it feels sickening. And her room is 10x12 - small.
But there are few things that I like more than changing the color of a wall. So, I am going for it. I narrowed it down to these options (paint chips next to window frame) -
I browsed www.houzz.com for photos of pink rooms. (That is a fabulous website for decorating advice. It is also a great way to find design professionals in your area.) I tend to like the darker shades better.

I like bold colors, so I'm leaning toward "taste of berry" (the darkest paint chip in the first photo). I'm hoping to get started by the end of the week.
