Nice and quiet

My husband and I always joke about when summer is over, because he thinks it ends some time in July.  I think it ended today, because PRESCHOOL started!  So, I went down to the fairly quiet (at noon) Virginia Highlands/Inman Park area.  I wandered around just enjoying the ability to go my own way and to think my own thoughts, and I took pictures of whatever caught my eye.

Old architectural details on houses -

Paper clothes -

Some people getting around town.  (I think the rest of the people come out later in the day.)

A dog guarding an antique store -

And tacos from my favorite Mexican restaurant -

"Are you meeting some people?" asked the host.  "Nope, I'm here by myself."  Isn't it lovely and quiet and peaceful?

A little trip to Inman Park

I have lived in Atlanta for my whole life but just recently made my way to the Inman Park area.  It has so many cute old houses and shops and restaurants.  The reputation of Sotto Sotto lured us down there for our anniversary dinner.  The food was amazing.  After dinner, I noticed a place called Cacao (a chocolate store) and was determined to come back to try it out.

So, I took my girls.

They claim to be the only bean-to-bar chocolate maker.  Their chocolate "laboratory" excited us.

However, I was hoping for more of an "experience" than we got.  It is just a small shop with no seating.  So, we selected our precious (outrageously expensive) chocolates and took them outside to share a table with the ants.  Cacao was gracious enough to serve the chocolates on a silver platter.

Cacao, if you will add some inside seating and some espresso, I will happily visit you again.

After our mid-morning snack, we walked next door to City Issue, which features beautiful mid-century modern furniture and accessories.

I was really interested in this desk -

...but then I saw a much less expensive globe.  My husband loves maps, so I bought it for him for his birthday.  It currently looks so lovely sitting in our bedroom that I hope he forgets it was originally for his office.

I love the note in the front of the atlas -

I think it is fascinating how this captures a snapshot of a time in which it was uncertain how the war would affect the boundary lines of the world.

After dessert and shopping, we had to finish up with a pizza lunch at Fritti -

Cool decor.  Great service.  Not my favorite pizza.  I'll have to go back some time to try something else.  I will definitely take another trip to this cool little area.
